The Adventure Of Night Time Bass Fishing

Friday, November 12th, 2010

Night time bass fishing can be a fun and thrilling experience. Regrettably, the exact same trip may end up being frightful, frustrating or just down right mundane. Your experience will mostly depend on the way you get prepared prior to the night time sportfishing adventure. In this article I will tell you how to set up for your night angling trip so that you can have a wonderful time. We’ll go over both location and gear set up.

The first thing you will want to do is to decide on a great location for your night time bass fishing trip. Scouting the fishing area while the sun is still out will ensure that you do not run into any unforeseen challenges after the sun goes down. Be very careful to find any items in the way that might cause you to fall at night. Make a mental note so that you can keep away from the obstructions, or move them all together.

Your boat should be prepared to go well before the sun sets. Having a light secured on the front side of your vessel will enable you to safely bring in and unhook your fish. Never use the light before hooking your fish or you may scare it away. If you turn it on too quick, you might end up scaring away a fish that was following your lure.

Another excellent strategy is to pick out a good place to fish before it becomes dark. Once the sun sets you will be able to quickly go to your chosen angling spot. Just make sure your lines are already set up and ready to go.

Good lures to use at night are top water lures. They create a nice outline against the top of the water and really draw night time bass in. You may use plugs, soft plastics, and live bait connected to a bobber. Glow bobbers are great for drawing in large groups of insects. Although this might seem like a bad thing, it does draw in bass looking to prey on insects.

Don’t hesitate to give night time bass fishing a try. Always remember that preparation is the key to having a fun and safe night time fishing experience. Its possible that night time bass fishing will be more fun for you than day time bass fishing. Thank you for reading this article on night time bass fishing, feel free to link to it wherever you see fit.

Different Types Of Snow Skiing

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

Snow skiing is a group of sports involving skis, boots, and boot bindings. Not just one sport, it is generally thought of as having two separate categories ‘ Alpine and Nordic.

Nordic consists of such types as ski jumping, cross-country, and Telemark skiing. Nordic traces its beginnings to Sweden and Norway and was the first type. The boot bindings for Nordic attach to the toes of a skier’s boots. There is no binding for the heels.

However, Alpine is different. Tracing its roots to the Alps of Europe and also known as downhill, the bindings attach differently. They fasten to both the toes and heels of the skier’s boots.

Alpine freestyle, freestyle, and freeskiing are all considered to be varying parts of Alpine. For the most part, these types of skiing involve using aerial acrobatics and maintaining balance.

An upgrade from these is freestyle, which makes use of tricks and stunts in their aerial escapades. Skiers of this discipline can practice their tricks in terrain parks, areas built outdoors that are similar to skateboard parks.

Similar to freestyle is freeskiing, also known as freeriding. The difference is that freeskiers use all of the outdoors as their playground. Anything found in the outdoors is considered a run. Cliffs, dry riverbeds, and isolated backcountry areas are preferred by these skiers.

Nordic skiing is also referred to as cross-country. No preconceived ski area is necessary for this, as it comes from a very old kind of ski race. Participants raced on terrain that was partly uphill, partly downhill, and partly flat. Before it became a well-known race, cross-country was more known as a way of travel in winter.

Freestyle cross-country entails using any technique to travel on skis as long as it is powered only by a person. Classic cross-country is different in that any skating action is not allowed to power the travel on skis.

Ski competitions have enjoyed great popularity over the years. Especially popular, though, are Nordic jumping, slalom racing, and downhill racing. Downhill is a race to a given finish line straight down a mountain. It is timed and the winner is whoever skis fastest.

Slalom racing is similar to downhill racing, save for one major difference. Racers must past through a series of slaloms on the way down to the finish line. A slalom is a gate formed with two poles, one red and one blue. Racers must pass between the two poles forming each gate.

Nordic jumping also goes downhill, but it isn’t timed. Length is the key for this sport. The skier starts downhill on the snow, then onto a ramp, and then into the air. He or she travels in the air as far as can be without alighting. The farthest jumper wins. And no poles are used.

Usually, snow is necessary. But not in dry slope skiing. Skiers ski on dirt, artificial snow, or dry snow. These slopes are not dry, as such, but are usually moistened with a mist or some sort of lubricant to facilitate speed. It also limits friction build-up and damage done to skis by the ground.

If you’re considering skiing on the mountains in the Collingwood area, then finding Blue Mountain accommodation should be on your to-do list. A nice cozy cottage is perfect for warming up after a long day of skiing the slopes.

Make it a Movie Night

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

A movie rental is a great way to brighten your night. When you are home alone with no obligations, think about popping in your favorite movie and spend some time winding down from the day.

What can beat a great show with a few of your fave snacks sitting down on your comfortable chair? Especially after a dull of even stressful day.

A movie rental is also a great idea for the whole family. All families should have time where they do things together. While this may not seem like quality time, its actually a great way to strengthen bonds.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with unwinding as a family unit; everybody can have a tough or boring day. Plus, movies are a great way to spark up conversations.

Just throw in a bag of popcorn in the microwave and enjoy it with your favorite dressing. Or, if health is a concern for you, even some fruits and vegetables would be enjoyable as healthy snacks while you watch your movie rental.

Just make sure that your movie rental is a good one, and everyone will be too busy watching to realize they arent eating.

For those of you who tend to rent movies very often, there is now an option to use your computer and internet to rent movies. Some companies will even offer annual memberships so that you can rent as much as you want all year long.

Of course, this is only a good option if you and your family rent movies on a regular basis. Compare the costs. It may be a great deal for you, especially if everyone in your house likes a different kind of movie.

Online movie rental is also really convenient. How many people really feel like stopping one more place on the way home after a long day at work? When you rent online, you simply send your movies back through mail.

Most memberships make it very easy to select the movies that you want. All it takes is a simple click of a button and your movie rental will be in your mailbox the next day.

Also, you will usually enjoy a wider selection of possible movies from the online option as oppose to the local rental stores.

Whether you’re looking to be scared and frightened, rolling on the floor laughing, or a good ole happy ending, renting a movie and staying in is a wonderful option. The choice is yours for whatever mood your in. So turn on that tube and take a nice, relaxing night to yourself. You deserve it.

Understanding The Differences Between CFL Canadian Football And The NFL

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

In the United States, summertime is when teams get prepared to play football. NFL teams start training camp, and college teams start practice. North of the border in Canada, however, summertime is when their professional football season begins in the form of the Canadian Football League (CFL).

Most Americans dont realize that the CFL has a lengthy and storied history. The league itself has been around since’30, and the Canadian Football championship–known as the Grey Cup–has been contended since’09. More recently, American fans are aware that a number of NFL stars got their start in the CFL including Doug Flutie, Jim Kelly, and Jeff Garcia.

The CFL is a very professional and highly competitive league, but its important to understand some important differences between it and the NFL:

The most obvious difference is the football itself–the CFL football is longer and fatter than the NFL ball. The CFL still has their goal posts on the goal line, which the NFL moved to the back of the end zone years ago. The field is 10 yards longer and 12 yards wider than the NFL field, and the CFL end zones are 20 yards deep instead of the NFL’s 10 yards.

CFL teams are allowed to have 12 players on the field at a time, one more than is standard in American football. The extra offensive player is a wide receiver, and on defense they’re allowed an extra defensive back. CFL teams allow a team only three downs to move ten yards as opposed to four in the US game–references to a team going “two and out” are common on CFL broadcasts.

A major difference in the scoring is the ’single’ which awards CFL teams one point for a kick–usually a punt or missed field goal–that lands in the end zone. This will frequently produce partial game scores of 1-0 or 1-1 that are impossible in the US game.

The rule differences don’t end there–CFL teams are required to maintain a certain percentage of Canadian born players on their roster. The idea is that this will protect the unique identity of the game, as well as prevent it from becoming little more than a farm system for the NFL. Currently’ of the 40 players on a CFL roster must be Canadian natives.

Many US football fans look at the rules that include more players, a wider field, and fewer downs meant to encourage more passing and expect to see a wide open high scoring style of play similar to Arena Football. That’s not really how it works out–most games end up with final score totals in the 40’s, but the game itself really isn’t much more offensively oriented than its American counterpart. The rules may be different, but as in the NFL you need a solid rushing game and a stout defense to win games and championships.

The requirement of native born players making up 50% of a CFL roster also results in a much more even distribution of talent across the league. Certainly there are good teams and bad teams, but the end result is greater parity than is found in the NFL.

The CFL isn’t in a financial position to draw the top level US players away from the NFL or, in most cases, even a NFL practice or developmental squad. While some US players are uniquely suited to the CFL style of play, most of the US players that end up there are of a similar talent level as to that seen in Arena Football.

The bottom line is that despite the rule differences and personal quotas the CFL game is still football and can be enjoyed the same way. Once you understand the unique attributes of the Canadian game youll start to enjoy it almost as much as the NFL.

Before the Internet became ubiquitous, it wasn’t easy for an American fan to keep up with the CFL. While they still don’t receive coverage on ESPN, the Internet affords access to the sports media of every CFL city along with the national Canadian sports media at sites like Slam! Sports. The CFL’s official site is also a great source of news, stats and information on Canadian football.

The Birth of Aikido

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

The term ‘Aikido’ is formed by the combination of three characters in the Japanese language. ‘Ai’, which signifies ‘joining’; ‘ki’, which represents ’spirit’ and ‘do’, which which means ‘way’. These three words in fact actualy do encapsulate the essence of Aikido as a type of martial art: ‘the joining of the spirit to find the way’. It was only in the period from 1930’s to the 1940’s that the name Aikido was officially accepted as the name of this martial art variety.

Aikido uses methods that do not seriously injure or kill not like different types of martial art. The movements and skills being taught are just intended to divert attention or immobilize attackers. This is perhaps the explanation why most people prefer Aikido, because of its concentration on peace and tranquility as opposed to violence and conflict. In deed, Aikido teacher, Morihei Ueshiba, believes that to have power over hostility without causing any injury is the art of peace.

Ueshiba, who is also called Osensei, which signifies ‘Great Teacher’, formed Aikido from the doctrine of Daito-ryu aiki-jujutsu. He incorporated the methods of the ‘yari’, the spear; the ‘juken’, the bayonet; and the ‘jo’, which is a short quarterstaff. But what ultimately distinguishes Aikido from other types of martial art is the fact that its proponents can strike while empty-handed. Proponents require no arms for their protection.

As a small child, he was much into physical fitness and conditioning. This was because of his vow to avenge his father’s attackers. In due course, his studies and activities brought him to the discipline of the various martial arts. He studied many of them. He even has certificates for fencing, fighting with spears, etc. He has learned it all. This is possibly the explanation why Aikido is such a diverse and multi-disciplinary kind of martial art.

Yet in spite of his skill, he was still dissatisfied. He felt that there was still something missing. It was then that he turned to the religions. He studied under a religious leader, Onisaburo Deguchi of the sect called Omoto-kyo in Ayabe. Deguchi taught him to take care of his psychic growth. He then combined his spiritual beliefs and his mastery of the different martial arts and Aikido was formed.

His relationship with this charismatic spiritual leader Deguchi also smoothed the path for his introduction to the elite political and military personnel as a martial artist. Because of this relationship, he was able to found Aikido and even pass on his teachings to students, who have, in turn, created their own methods and movement in Aikido.

Aikido is a blend of the different styles of jujitsu as well as some of the techniques of sword and spear fighting, of which Ueshiba was an expert. To obtain an general picture, Aikido combines the joint locks and throws of jujitsu and the techniques of the body necessary when fighting with swords and spears.

Oriental in origin, it was brought to the West by Minoru Mochizuki when he visited France in 1951. He introduced the Aikido methods to students who were learning judo. In 1952, Tadashi Abe came to France as the official Aikikai Honbu representative. Then in 1953, Kenji Tomiki toured throughout the United States while Koichi Tohei stayed in Hawaii for a full year where he set up a dojo. Aikido then spread its influence in the United Kingdom two years after and in 1965, it reached Germany and Australia. At present, Aikido has centres all over the world.

Radios Used For Airsoft

Friday, December 11th, 2009

During airsoft games, radios are a great way for commanders and teams to communicate, but which radio should your team choose for the terrain being played on?

Before choosing a radio, it is important to recognize all the requirements such as are you playing in areas with a lot of buildings, indoors, outdoors in open areas or all of the above? Will you use the radio at long ranges (i.e., for command purposes) or within a small unit? What sort of headset will you require? It is important to consider all these questions and more when choosing your radio.

One major factor when determining the radio’s effectiveness is the radio band. Personal radios use 1 of 3 bands with each band designed for different terrains.

Family Radio Service (FRS) or Personal Mobile Radio (PMR) radios are the cheapest radios available. They tend to be compact with small antennas and low powers, and operate on an FM service of– channels. They allow a range of microphones from lapel mics to headsets and do not require a license to use.

Unfortunately, because of their small antennas and low power signals, they have a hard time penetrating buildings and forests, so their range is can be an issue depending on your requirements. For use in airsoft, these personal radios are great to be used within a team but not for command purposes.

Multi User Radio Service (MURS) radios are higher powered alternatives to FRS and PMR radios and use an FM service with five channels. As they can connect to external antennas and their signals are capable of bending over hills, they are a popular choice for hikers and climbers and do not require a license to use.

However, MURS radios are more expensive than their counterparts are and you are unable to use as wide a range of headsets with them. Also, even though they have stronger signals, they are not able to penetrate buildings and dense forests either so they are generally not a good option for airsoft.

General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) radios are the highest performance personal radios, operating on significantly higher powers (up to 50 watts) and up to 16 duplex channels. They can also utilise repeaters and a much better at penetrating dense forests and buildings.

However, this performance does come at a cost. GMRS radios can be very bulky and expensive and licenses are required to use them.

So which should you buy? It’s likely that budget will be a factor, so identify the radios that you can afford and revisit your requirements. If you’re purchasing radios for each member of your team it’s likely that you’ll be on a tight budget, in which case FRS / PMR radios may be the best choice initially. If you are commanding a group of teams, you will likely need a GMRS radio to communicate effectively, so have a shop around.

Of course, the final decision on which radio to choose is up to you. Always be sure to research all options in advance in order to avoid disappointment with your purchase later.

Importance of Wearing Ski or Snowboarding Goggles

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

Wearing goggles is extremely necessary if you are going out for skiing or snowboarding as these equipments provide great protection to your eyes out there on the snow fields. If you do not wear goggles while skiing or snowboarding, you will be exposed to several risks to your eyes including ice particles, debris, twist and snow flying towards your face while sloping down the hill at high speeds. These goggles also protect your eyes from harmful UV sun rays that become stronger when reflected back from the snow.

While buying skiing or snowboarding goggles, you should also give concentration to fogging, more than ever if you are a beginner because at this time, you will fall more and breathe heavier. Goggles with multiple lenses will take care of the fogging issue as they will be kept well vented because fresh air gets circulated between the lenses, thus preventing fogging. There are chemically treated goggles that are also available in the market which are manufactured as anti-fog or else you can purchase anti-fog wipes and sprays from your equipments store.

Branded goggles mostly provide 100% protection from UV rays but they are very costly. If you cannot afford to buy them, you can purchase the ones that provide at least 95% protection.

Other things that you need to keep in mind while purchasing ski or snowboarding goggles are that they should have a fine peripheral vision, they should be comfortable to wear and should snug fit over your facial contours. The straps and inside of your goggles should be padded which will prevent serious injuries in case you land badly. By peripheral vision, we mean that while you are traveling down the slope at high speed, you should be able to recognize the hazards quickly such as rocks, trees, uneven terrain and other people on the snow fields.

If you have to wear prescription glasses, then you can get your customized prescription goggles or purchase a pair that securely fits over your glasses. While deciding about the color of your lenses, you must remember that yellow or clear lenses are suitable for darker skiing or snowboarding conditions; rosy tint is suitable for medium to low light conditions and yellow, amber or gold are suitable for moderate light conditions. Now-a-days, goggles are available that have inter-changeable lenses, allowing you to choose the correct color of your lenses for current skiing or snowboarding conditions.

Although most of the branded ski and snowboarding goggles are fine, they should also work well with the helmet you wear. It is important to choose your goggles wisely so that you can enjoy your sport in a safe manner.

The Easy Way To Buy Skate Shoes

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Many people find it hard to Buy SKATE SHOES because they do not quite know how to use them or anything about them. They are almost like other skate shoes except they are specifically made to keep you on a skate board.

Skate shoes usually have more of a grip than a normal shoe does for the reason of staying on a board. There are skate shoes that have wheels in them that can pop in and out of the shoe which allow you to skate on your heels. I could never use the shoes that you can skate on your heels with but a lot of people do it like they are pros

If you can not find skating shoes at a sporting goods store you should check and ask the clerk if it is possible to get them ordered. If all else fails you can look on-line for them and sometimes there are great deals on them and the site might even offer free shipping.

The reason why they call them skate shoes is because they are specifically designed to keep you on a skate board. However, there are other shoes that have wheels in them and people skate around on these and they are also called skate shoes.

You can find skate shoes in many different colors and you can find them in a lot of different brands. I think they are worth buying if this is something you are into and I think that skate shoes have some nice designs on them sometimes.

No matter where you get your skate shoes make sure you know about what you are buying so that you do not waste your time on something that is just going to fall apart within a year or so. Either way you go just make sure you do not waste a bunch of money on shoes that are not worth it.
