If your going camping with your family for the first time, you should make a camping check lists, You can find a lot of information and tips on the internet. Many camping stores as well as other campers who know very well what they are talking about, will provide you with lots of helping tips regarding your type of camping. In addition to the items that your camping supplies should contain, you may also find information about prices of these items as well as where you can find the best to buy and/or rent.

A camping supplies or camping gear checklist that most camping and sporting goods stores will give you generally contains the following items: tent, and tarps, ropes, cords and tent pegs as well as other accessories. Toilet paper and even a camping toilet might be of importance especially if you will not set up your “camp” on a campsite together with other campers, but in camping state parks, where you might find yourselves “alone in the woods.”

The Benefits When You Choose To Go Camping In An RV

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

One thing most people love to do is to take vacations. There is one type that is very popular. The type of vacation we are referring to is camping. This vacation is something that appeals to a lot of people.

One way that is one of the best when camping is to use an RV. Well in this article we are going to look at some fun things you can do by going camping in an RV.

First and foremost when you camp in an RV you give yourself the ability to still enjoy all the amenities of life. Things like running water or toilets is very appealing to people. Naturally there are still some people who really like to camp by roughing it. But that isn’t the type of person that makes up most of my clientele of my San Diego RV rentals business.

The benefit that should be mentioned next when camping in an RV is you have the ability to bring all types of food. Usually when you are camping the types of food you can bring with you are limited. Well if you were to go camping in an RV you are free to bring most any types of food you could imagine. That is the biggest requested item for people who rent an RV from my Campland on the Bay RV rentals service.

The final benefit is you give yourself the freedom to go to a lot of campsites on one trip. When you first go camping the first thing you need to do is set up your camp. Well if you decide you want to go elsewhere there will be a lot of work to break down and move camp. Well when you are camping in an RV, should you decide to go to another campground, you can do so easily by just packing up and driving. This is what a lot of people who rent from my RV rentals company.

As you can see very clearly the choice to go camping with an RV has many reasons. The biggest reason that covers them all is comfort and ease of use.

A Helpful Guide to What Types of Food to Take on a Camping Trip

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

What types of food items are a good fit for camping? Well, there are a variety of different choices and it is quite simply, up to you. You can either prepare foods that are time consuming or quick and easy. The best way to make the most of your trip is to plan ahead on what you will be bringing along. Make sure you account for the number of meals that you will need during the length of your trip as well as how much storage space you will have. Also, do you plan on cooking your meals over the fire or by using a camp stove?

One suggestion I have is to consider cooking a few meals before you leave on your camping trip. A great example is taco-seasoned meat which can be brought along for a “make your own” taco meal which your whole family will enjoy. Casseroles are another complete meal that can be prepared ahead of time; like all frozen foods, casseroles can be used in the cooler to keep other food items cold and will thaw out in time for meals.

Any food that is in a can or soups is another great idea for camping. This is simply because the soup or contents can be heated up quickly within its container or by using a sturdy pot over the campfire. Just remember to pack a can operator that can be operated by hand. Are you planning on doing quite a bit of hiking? Well, you will want to pack food items that are lightweight and that will not spoil. Freeze-dried or dehydrated meals are a great option for backpacks.

Try and avoid bringing any food items that normally require some type of refrigeration. Frozen meats will be safe left out in the cooler for the first night as long as they are wrapped in tin foil and tucked into towels or clothing to retain the cold. Additionally, you will want to bring along food items that contain protein such as nuts, peanut butter, tuna, or dried beans; especially if your family is active!

For many people bread is considered to be a staple with a variety of meals. I suggest that you pick bread that has a crisper crust as this will help alleviate any potential damage that may occur during transportation. For recipes that require milk, dried milk is an excellent substitution and is typically packaged in a box. Another excellent type of camp food are potatoes and certain types of vegetables which are versatile and satisfying.

A Novice’s Guide to Carp Fishing Equipment

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

There are many different types of freshwater fish that are very popular with anglers. Once that receives great attention in Europe, but hasn’t caught on so much in the States, is carp. Carp fishing is still a very popular hobby, and one that is even growing in the U.S. There is one thing that carp anglers have in common regardless of where they are from: the need for good carp fishing tackle and equipment.

One of the most important parts of getting good gear is obviously the fishing rod. A good carp rod will be medium action, and long - generally at least six feet long, although longer can be better. This gives the strength and flexibility needed for carp fishing.

Right after the rod you need to consider the reel. All good reels are open faced, not closed faced, and can hold a great deal of line. At a very minimum, you should be able to spool 150 yards of 12 lb test. More is better, but 150 should be your minimum standard.

Obviously you’ll want to know what kind of bait to use. While carp will hit about anything, the preferred bait seems to be sticky smelly stuff. Think of the kind of bait that catfish would like, and you’re on the right track.

If you’re a beginning carp angler, you may have heard of pods. Pods are basically rod holders that many carpers use to get more than one line out there while waiting for the carp to bite. This isn’t a tool that beginning anglers need to worry about, but if carping becomes an obsession, it’s something to look at down the line.

Don’t forget about the fishing line, either. Good fishing line for carp is a minimum of 12 pound test line, and higher can be better. Many carp fishermen prefer line made from Kevlar.

A beginning carp fisher can get all the tackle and gear needed for a fairly inexpensive price. Between rod, reel, line, and bait you can start out for well under $100 in most areas. This is a fantastic fresh water fish to pursue, and one that lives up to its reputation as a fighter.

Every angler knows you have to have the right gear to get the job done. If you want to really enjoy carp fishing, get the right tackle and gear early on and you’ll be glad you did.

And if you would like to find additional resources on carp fishing gear, please feel free to visit that page, or take a look at this carp fishing equipment guide.

Good Reasons to Make a Camping Checklist

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

There are some folks who think that anybody who makes a camping checklist is simply too organized. Yet it is the individual who dismisses the thought of preparing a checklist who is most liable to overlook an article that is important to their trip. For example, when you take a great deal of canned food with you on your trip, however forget to bring a can opener, you may quickly be extremely hungry. And when you’re camping in a isolated area, then you evidently have a big problem. A camping checklist helps you to avoid this sort of mess so that your vacation won’t be ruined.

If you are deciding what items to put on your camping checklist you should think about what sort of vacation you’re going on. An RV camping checklist could not be the same as one you would get ready if you were staying in a tent, since you might ought to bring different gear. Much depends on where you’re going also. Your checklist should include more things and be very comprehensive if your destination is far away from civilization someplace in the wilds. However if your destination is a rural area only a few miles from a community you will quite likely be able to get any forgotten things throughout your journey.

If you wait until a day or two before your trip to make up your camping checklist you boost the odds of forgetting something important. Plan your list a few weeks in advance of your vacation so you will have sufficient time to make sure you have anything you might need. This could make getting ready for your trip a good deal less stressful as you won’t end up running around at the last moment endeavoring to find a new camp stove or air mattress before you get going.

The best reason to prepare a camping checklist is to make sure that your trip is enjoyable and free of stress. Most individuals work hard through the year and therefore warrant a break that does not include the stress of unanticipated problems that arise. A checklist may help you to ensure your trip goes as smoothly as possible so that you’ll have many happy memories of your time away. When you have everything you need with you, camping trips are a great deal of fun. However if you forget something essential, it may all too quickly turn out to be a nightmare.

Carp Fishing Robin Red Bait Secrets!

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Robin Red is probably the best known successful carp attractor throughout the world and to many anglers, what it is and how it works is a mystery because its full recipe is top secret, but you can get very useful clues on what it is, how it works and how to use it here; so read on…

Robin Red is part of the range of bird foods from a company called Haiths of Cleethorpes England. At present their top ten selling products include the following: Robin Red, Red Factor, Nectarblend, Red Band, Prosecto Insectivorous, Soft Bill, Multi Mix, and Carpticle Mix, Super Red and hempseed. This company have many decades of experience formulating specialised foods for birds for all stages of development and for enhancing plumage, growth, health and so on and these products ideally fit the bill as it were for carp!

Among such bird food products Robin Red is the best known and is literally a legend when it comes to carp bait ingredients and additives etc today. Hinders offer other bird foods which have also been integral in the success and universal use of bird food based carp baits throughout the world today. Countless modern carp bait companies have taken hinders and Rod Hutchinsons leads for example and formulated their own commercial bird food based baits ranges and now additives and liquids etc based around robin red and chilli for instance are extremely fashionable and successfully proven; such as the Ccmoore Red Venom additive.

So many commercial ground baits and readymade boilies and pellets contain Robin Red that it may be that using a homemade bait without it means your personal unique homemade bait is the only bait that does not contain it at your water! Using a bait with very low levels or even no Robin Red can even work in your favour as carp might well regard it as an indicator of potential danger these days on pressured carp waters. In doing further research on this product you will discover ways to incorporate known components of it into your baits and make your bait effective while avoiding using robin Red itself…

You can apply Robin Red to any boilie, pellet, ground bait, fake or live bait etc as it will penetrate and even dye red most things. Dampening it with Ccmoore red Venom will make Robin Red seriously ideal for neat PVA product use or when using method mixes, sod and stick mixes etc with Robin Red in… Liquid Red Venom is a great partner for the very granular Robin Red and both are outstanding for all year round uses and applications (and especially winter-time…)

So exactly what is Robin Red; after all it certainly colours up the water attractively and even stains your hands a distinctive red?! The recipe of Robin Red is shrouded in mystery, controversy and endless speculation, and perhaps all you can say for certain, is that is does not contain Carophyll Red, (but this does not exclude it containing cantaxanthin perhaps…) Robin Red certainly does contain many bioactive components and substances, including antioxidant pigments (plumage colour enhancing agents highly stimulatory to carp!)

Why not save yourself a fortune in bait costs and try making your own homemade baits for the first time using a mix of semolina, soya flour with added robin red? Try boosting your pellets by just adding water and adding neat robin red and mixing thoroughly; this will cloud the water very red too, (wash your red hands after use!) One easy to use product incorporating Robin Red is Haiths super Red which can be used neat in PVA products and contains the following:

Super Red has aniseed oil, teasel seeds, crushed Carpticle mix, crushed hempseed, Red Factor, robin Red, peanut granules and crushed tiger nuts. This combination is only one of countless others you could try in making your own boilies, pellets and ground baits and to maximise this and more and to save yourself an fortune in bait costs why not now read on…

Lake George New York, A Great Place to Ride

Monday, April 13th, 2009

[I:http://mdiexplorer.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/LJJames2.jpg] As a Biker I love to take long Rides on my 2007 Harley Davidson, Nightrain. Some times a trip to Connecticut where one has the freedom of choice to decided if they want to wear a Helmet or not is a great place to go. Often I head up to the NY Catskill Mountains, Where a Burger and a Beer at Nicks Waterfall House in West Conesville can be the perfect end to a day of Cruising threw the Mountains.

Then there is another of my Favorite places to ride to, The Lake George NY area. My Uncle has a small Cabin in the Mountains right outside of the town of Lake George where I often stay. The area has some great long and winding roads for riding, These roads will relax even the most stressed Motorcycle rider.

There is so much history to the Lake George NY area. While on a trip one year riding around with no real destination in mind, I found myself in front of Fort Ticonderoga (fort-ticonderoga.org). Being very interested in American History I had to stop in and take the tour. The Fort was built between 1755 and 1759 and has plenty of stories to tell. It had a big roll in the American Revolution. As I walked around the Fort the I could almost imagine I had traveled back to the 18Th Century, The things I learned reminded me of the sacrifices our fore Fathers made to secure the Freedoms we enjoy and let slip threw our fingers every day.

Another thing I like to do is ride on some of the less traveled roads. Riding on a road where you see nothing but Forests and small Waterfalls for miles is very relaxing. I like to search out small little Dinners and eatery’s, Stopping at them and trying some of the foods they have to offer.

I recently met up with my Mother, Sister, Brother, Nieces, Nephew and other members of my family at the Lake George Escape Evergreen Resort Campgrounds (LakeGeorgeEscape.com), I found it a great places for me to relax for a few days. There where plenty of activities for the kids and many activities I could enjoy with the kids. In the resorts game room I won my Nieces and Nephew many prizes and I played (or maybe Battled is a more accurate word) Air Hockey with my younger Brother in the game room for hours. The resort has a pond and two pools to Swim in. Each week at the resort during the Summer has a thyme and while we where there it was Halloween week. The Camp Grounds has Nightly Hay rides around the Camp Grounds and since it was Halloween week my Brother came up with the idea of throwing out candy to all the kids as we took a Hay ride around the grounds one night. The Cherry on the top of this great resort has to be the on Grounds full service Tiki style Bar where most Nights they had a DJ to help keep the party going!

Many other things I have stopped to enjoy while riding around and staying in the Lake George area is White Water rafting, Hiking and many Trips to Six Flags Great Escape & Splash Water Kingdom. The park was known as Storytown USA when it first opened in 1954. As a Kid I used to love to watch the gun fights in its old western area known as Ghost town. The park may be much larger now and have many modern day Rides and attractions, but all the old Story town, Jungleland and Ghost town areas from the 50’s and 60s are still there! Then of course there is the town of Lake George it self with many great stores for shopping including a new shop I found last year called DILLIGAF’s. Many Arcades, Museum’s, Para Sailing, Night Clubs and Many Places to eat including some Waterfront Restaurants. Now in my opinion no trip to Lake George can be Complete without a Paddle wheel Cruise on the historic and scenic Lake George itself. The lake is known as the Queen of American Lakes. There are Two maybe three Companies you can use, But I recommend you take your trip on the Lake George Steamboat Company’s (lakegeorgesteamboat.com) Minnie-Ha-Ha. I have Pictures of me getting on this Boat with my Family that go back many years. [I:http://mdiexplorer.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/LJJames8.jpg]

As Bikers We are always looking for Great places to ride to alone or with our friends and family that offer both great riding areas and many things to do. I have found Lake George to be a great area for both!

Maybe I will see you there! Your Bro L.J. James AmericanBikerX.com Listen to LJs Radio Show at BikerLowDown.com

What Are the Motor Scooter Benefits?

Saturday, April 11th, 2009

A great alternative to driving a car or riding a bike is the motor scooter. Not only do they combat the rise in fuel prices, scooters are very easy to operate. Gas scooters come in a variety of sizes and styles, you would be sure to find the perfect scooter for your needs. Here are a few of the many benefits of owning a moped scooter.

One benefit is that moped scooters are very easy to use. They tend to be quite similar to motorcycles; however, unlike a motorcycle the engine of the moped scooter is located below the seat and above the rear axle. The scooter is also significantly lighter than a motorcycle and the step through frame creates a feature where riders can rest their feet on a platform or footrest instead of pedals. Unlike the motorcycle, there are no shifting gears, making it easy even for kids to operate.

Another advantages are that they are economical. All over the world, scooters are a popular form of urban transportation due to their low cost. The price depends on many factors including whether you’re buying a high quality name brand versus an inexpensive and low quality model. Most beginning models can start below $1000.

Gas savings though out the year is another benefit of owning a motor scooter. It can be very difficult to find a car which averages over 30 mpg, while most scooters can get over 80 mpg. The annual gas savings alone can provide the extra money needed for those unexpected bills.

Another benefit is that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) approve motor scooters. With an EPA and DOT approval, vehicles meet their strict standards and can be registered as being street legal vehicle in all 50 states. In other words, they can be driven on the street. However, these vehicles aren’t designed for speed so as a precaution you may want to stay off the highway or interstate.

Saving time and money, and enjoying your ride around town are just a sample of the benefits of owning a motor scooter. Become the envy of your friends and check out the new craze in traveling, scootering.

Canopy Tents - Great Camping Additions!

Friday, April 10th, 2009

There are additional enhancements you can add to your camping equipment and the canopy tent is one of the best. It offers additional protection from the elements of nature. Two types are available. One is the open sided canopy, just a top and the other has a screen sided canopy. This is also known as a screen tent or house

Canopy tents with no sides make excellent camp-table covers and even cook stations. There is nothing that can ruin your camping trip faster than having to cook or eat your food in the rain. Most all canopy tents are free standing and can be erected anywhere in your campsite.

The canopy tent is not restricted to just camping. They are great for the back yard or even taking to the park. Wherever you need shelter, the canopy tent can provide the shelter you need for any event you are hosting.

The sided canopy tent or the screen tent, as it is known, is an excellent choice if your camping adventures go into bug and insect infected areas. These tents offer good protection against pesky bugs, offering you a more comfortable and enjoyable adventure.

Screen tents come in a floor with the same tent material or no floor but has screen sides. These are the two types of screen tents. And both offer adequate protection from bugs and the elements. These are a matter of personal preference.

A screen tent makes a good place for storage. This allows you the benefit of more room for you in your tent for relaxing or sleeping. These tents come in ten by ten feet or twelve by twelve feet. Allowing you an additional 100/144 square feet of sheltered area.

Canopy tents and screen tents are also portable, are simple to put up and lightweight. It will take 1 to 2 people to put a tent up depending on the type of tent chosen and some set ups can be done in about five minutes.

However you may enjoy your activities and adventures outdoors by adding a screen and or a canopy tent will only enhance your adventures that much more. You will have protection from natures elements and little creatures, allowing you to enjoy more of your trip. Relaxing and sleeping in more comfort sheltered from the elements. You may even find that you like to go on these outdoor trips more often.

Choosing the Right Tent When You Go Hunting!

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

If you go hunting, not just any tent is going to do, because there are so many ways you can hunt. When you buy a hunting tent, you have to think of a lot of different things, such as what kind of weather you can expect to have when you hunt, or how many people are going to hunt with you and therefore are going to have to share that tent. In addition, it makes a difference if you are going to be close to roadways or if you’re going to be far back in the woods. Are you going to be sleeping on the ground, or will you take cots with you?

If you are going to be hunting deep in the back country then you are faced with how you are going to get there. If you are backpacking in, then you are going to want a lightweight easy to set-up backpacking tent rated for the season you will be hunting in.

For example, if you go hunting deep in the “backcountry” and you’re going to be traveling by ATV or even horse, you can choose a sturdier and therefore heavier tent o carry, because you know you’re not going to have to carry it in all by yourself but will have some means of transportation.

Now Let us say you are a hunter who likes to camp in campgrounds or just off the road. Then pretty much the sky is the limit for you. You can take the big 7-12 person tent or just a 1 or 2-person tent. You can have a tent big enough for cots so you can sleep in comfort after a hard day of hunting or you can have a small lightweight tent that has easy set-up and break-down so you can always stay on the go.

When you choose your tent, make sure you get your tent from a manufacturer that’s been in business for a while. A company or manufacturer that has been making tents for a long time and is still in business is going to make good quality tents that stand up to use and weather. It’s true that while you’ll save a little bit of money on a so-called “discount” tent, you’ll be sorry in the long run because not only will you spend money on a replacement tent sooner, but you’ll be uncomfortable using the tent you got if it doesn’t keep you dry or has other problems because it’s not well made.

Of course, another consideration when it comes to your hunting tent is that you need to get one suitable for the season you going to be hunting in. There are tents that are rated three- and four-season; in general, a four-season tent is best if you’re going to be hunting in any type of cold climate. A three-season tent will be suitable if you’re going to be hunting in more temperate climates such as those in Florida or Southern California.

In general, a four-season tent is a very good investment regardless of where you are, because it will handle any type of weather you run into and therefore won’t limit where you can hunt or when. You can hunt literally anywhere knowing that you are going to be comfortable and dry in any weather conditions nature might throw your way. If you’re cold and wet during your entire hunting expedition, it’s not going to be any fun.

When choosing your hunting tent pick the one that fits your hunting style and preferences, the tent that is rated for the weather you will be hunting in and is big enough for you, your gear, and all your hunting partners. Then the only thing left is to find the best deal you can. Find a place that has a great selection and a low price promise on 3 and 4-season tents from a 1-person tent to a 12-person tent.
