Stampeders Top Blue Bombers In CFL Action

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

The Calgary Stampeders used a solid all around game from running back Joffrey Reynolds to beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 31-23 before 35,000 fans at McMahon Stadium in weekend CFL action. The victory evened the Stamps record at 3-3 on the season and left them tied for first place in the CFL West Division with Saskatchewan and Edmonton.

Reynolds ran one touchdown and caught another to lead the Stamps offensive attack. After the game, he received props from Stampeders’ signal caller Henry Burris:

“Joffrey, he’s been an animal. He’s a proven professional. To me, he’s the best running back in the league and he shows it game in and game out.”

Reynolds displayed impressive humility as he accepted Burris compliment:

“Any time that you can be mentioned with great players in this franchise and in this league, you’ve got to be happy about that. I’m just trying to play good football and just help us win games.”

Winnipeg running back Fred Reid rushed for a pair of touchdowns, but insisted that his team needs to compete for 60 minutes if they want to win games in the CFL:

“We have to play four quarters. The slow start hurt us. We played hard and came back in the second half. I wish we could have pulled it out. We have to keep fighting.”

Calgary safety Wes Lysack praised the competitive tenacity of the Blue Bombers:

“Give credit to them. They gave us a heck of a fight, but we found a way to get a win. Wins are hard to come by in the CFL.”

The Stampeders travel to Edmonton for a Thursday night game against the Eskimos. Winnipeg will return home on Saturday to face the CFLs best team, the Montreal Alouettes.

Choosing the Best Folding Card Table and Accessories

Friday, August 14th, 2009

If you are searching for a well-built folding card table and accessories, a great place to begin your hunt is online. Your shopping for this sort of table will actually involve a few steps.

Before you begin shopping for your folding card table and accessories, you first need to consider what you want. You also need to set your budget. So firstly, figure out if you want a wood, resin, or metal table. Then determine how much you wish to spend. Will your folding card table and accessories only be used for fun, or will it be a more serious outlay of money for a table you can use for a long time? Consider all these things before you begin shopping for your folding card table and accessories.

What it’s made of

Although wood is the nicest material your folding card table and accessories can be built from, it is not cheap. Actually, the high-end models can cost up to $400 including the chairs. In comparison, if you do not want to invest that much money on a wooden table, you can go for great resins, or plastics, which are much sturdier because they are not susceptible to things like damaging from water exposure. Therefore, a cheaper, durable resin or plastic will do just fine.

Metal is an adequate option, however, it is what it is, and is not easy to disguise as some resins are. Meaning if you are looking for a table that looks like wood, but is long lasting and will make it through much wear and tear you should select a “wood look” resin for instance.

What you’ll pay

Now, if you intend to treat your card table like good quality furniture and not give it “rough-and-tumble” treatment, AND you want to spend a pretty penny on what you buy, then a $400 wood table set with chairs is the way to go.

Nevertheless, know that you can spend far less and get something just as durable if not as aesthetically pleasing if you choose metal or resin. What you will pay is $100 for a table and four chairs, all the way up to $400 dollars for a better table and four chairs. What you spend depends on the budget that you have, and you do not have to spend a lot of money to get a good quality folding card table and accessories.

Buying your folding card table and accessories

I earlier stated that there were a few part to this. Fist off, you will need to figure out what you want to buy, and the amount of your budget as well. Then, go on the internet and do some comparison-shopping. This will give you a clue as to what is available for you to buy. With that information handy, you can now go out to shops and look for your folding card tables and accessories firsthand.

One point to make here is that even though you may still want to buy online (because it’s usually cheaper to do it that way), you’ll still want to get a firsthand look. While you do that, take down model names, materials, etc., and then go back and do your final purchase online with the information you’ve gathered.

With a bit of thinking ahead, and some work, you should be able to find an excellent folding card table and accessories for a cost that is reasonable, and within your budget. It will give you much enjoyment when playing your future card games.

Trading Price Action In Forex Markets

Monday, July 27th, 2009

If you want to become a successful trader, you should immerse yourself completely in the subject in order to find your edge. In case, you are already a winning trader than you should know exactly what your edge is.

The sharp moves often seen in the forex markets can be difficult to trade and often interpret even by advanced traders. Learning to read and interpret price action can be a huge advantage.

When the market is in a steep decline, one should be careful to measure the reaction of the longs. You must try to know and understand if the move has the chance to turn into a rout.

By looking at the reaction of the longs as soon as the rate begins to go south, you may be able to determine if the market is sitting on a large number of long positions. If the spike is followed by a sharp V recovery, you should be wary of shorting the pair.

Many buyers entering the market at lower levels tell you that the market is not heavily long. These lower prices mean bargain prices for those wishing to accumulate long positions.

Moving averages (MAs) are among the oldest, true and tested lagging indicators. MAs can be simple as well as exponential. Widely used moving averages are the 50, 100 and 200 day MAs. Many traders use MAs in making trading decisions.

Moving averages are essentially lagging indicators and relate to the past price action. MAs can be used effectively in intra day trading for entering and exiting positions in one way markets.

During times of sharp price moves, it becomes difficult for the traders to enter a position as retracements are far and few. This makes most of the traders confused and forces them to start taking arbitrary decisions.

Moving Averages can be used as dynamic support and resistance levels in such situations. This will give results superior than the static support and resistance levels used by majority of the traders.

The advantages of using Moving Averages like this gives you dynamic levels to trade off and gauge price action taking place in the market. This will help you avoid using arbitrary levels in entering or exiting a position.

What Should Go Into A CV?

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

A recruiter looking through a pile of CVs needs to see information in a certain way. In the same way, when we look at a menu in a restaurant, we expect to see starters, main courses, desserts and beverages laid out in a particular way. Failure to meet the readers expectations leads to confusion. Most people will put that CV straight into the “no” pile rather than waste their time trying to pick out information that should have been readily available

Your first and second name should sit prominently at the top of your CV. There is no need for second (or more) names to be added). Leave it as plain and simple as you can and avoid pretense at all costs. A shortened version of your Christian name is increasingly acceptable, for example, Fred not Frederick is very normal nowadays. Using the name with which you answer the telephone will be fine

Include your full, correct postal address along with post code or zip code as appropriate. Landline numbers are always a good idea. Personally, I would always include a home telephone number as well as a mobile number. If you don’t have a mobile yet, consider purchasing a cheap pay as you go mobile phone- it will definitely be worth it for you

Being able to see if your CV fits with the needs of the recruiter is very important. A brief paragraph at the top of your CV, called a career statement or personal profile should do the trick. Show how you can help a business, in what industry sector, what geographical area, at what level, and what track record can you point to with which to support your application. Basically, this should entice the recruiter to read more

Working from your most recent work achievements and moving backward, you need to pick out key achievements for which you have been personally responsible. Focus on achievements and not responsibilities. Nobody takes anyone on for those reasons alone. You really need to quietly sell yourself in this, the most important section of the CV. Make sure you are telling the truth as well- you may be called on to back up these claims with factual evidence at the interview or at some later date

Academic qualifications. These need to be listed with the highest level first. Typically, post graduate qualifications first, then first degree, then higher qualifications (A levels) then lower level qualifications (GCSE). List them in the following way. Qualification title, Educational Institute, dates

Professional qualifications, unlike educational qualifications are gained through a training provider, company, individual or other organization. They are very different from academic or educational qualifications and should therefore be listed in a separate section of your CV. Show your success in taking additional training courses, personal development and the like, and write them down in the order: qualification, service provider, certificate number (if appropriate) and date(s) as appropriate

The last section of your CV is made up of hobbies, interests, other information, etc. This information is a bit like the relish on a burger- not much use without the main ingredient, but it can make the difference between a memorable meal or just another snack. Your interests should be factual. Never put your actual date of birth on your CV. There are far too many people who may want to make use of this valuable personal information who may wish to use it to steal your identity

Rodriguez Baseball

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Known as A-Rod to fans and teammates, Alex Rodriguez plays third base for the New York Yankees. Born in New York City’s Washington Heights neighborhood, Rodriguez moved to the Dominican Republic at the age of four. However, the family soon returned to the US and settled in Miami. Soon after, is father abandoned Alex and his mother, moving to New Jersey.

In Miami Rodriguez would begin his baseball career playing for his high school team. It was here that Alex would go All-American his senior year and be the first high school player to ever to try out for Team America.

Upon finishing high school, Rodriguez signed a letter of intent to play for the baseball team at the University of Miami - but he decided to pursue a professional career in baseball instead, entering the amateur draft.

He was quickly picked up by the Seattle Mariners, where he played as the third 18 year old short stop since the turn of the century. His star was rising, but the season was cut short due to the Major League strike of 1994.

As a result, it wasn’t until 1996 that5 Rodriguez really came into his own. In this season, he batted a very impressive .358, scoring 36 home runs and 123 RBIs, the highest average for any right hand batter in the AL since Joe Di Maggio. This was also the 3rd highest batting average for a short stop in any league - Rodriguez would finish out the season with the Major League’s highest total of hits, runs, doubles and extra base hits, earning him the Major League Player of the Year title.

He would play with several more teams until in 2004 he signed with the New York Yankees. During his years with the Yankees, he would set more records of home runs; RBI’s and win Most Valuable Player in 2005 and again in 2007. Despite all his accomplishments, A-Rod would begin to receive criticism for being unable to perform well in clutch situations, that is under extreme pressure. Fans and sport writers alike would criticize his abilities. Much of this he simply takes in stride and has been quoted as saying, “I could care less. In my career, I’ve been hearing it for a long time. It will never stop until you win five or six World Series in a row, and hit a Joe Carter home run. I’ve done a lot of special things in this game, and for none of that to be considered clutch, it’s an injustice.” He must be doing something right however because in 2007 the Yankees and Rodriguez came to an agreement for a ten year contract at the tune of two hundred and seventy five million dollars and millions more if he breaks the home run record.

The player’s personal life has also been a topic of discussion, with A-Rod having been spotted in the company of another woman at a strip club (he and his wife are divorcing). There have also been rumors that he and the singer Madonna have had an affair, something supported by the singer’s divorce from husband Guy Ritchie.

Wild Game’s Most Beneficial Cooker, Charcoal or Gas Grill?

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

One of the finest ways to serve wild game of all types is the Barbecue grill, truly an outdoor tradition. American family practice and good home cooking are familiar to most outdoorsmen. The smell of venison chops, grilled turkey, or duck breasts will make any sportsman hungry.

There are two schools of thought for the outdoor grill gas or charcoal. Although gas grills are becoming more and more prominent, the old-school charcoal grills are still preferred by many of us. There’s just something about that grilled flavor that’s hard to let go of. Those red coals fill the mouth-watering meat with an incomparable flavor that can’t be forgotten.

The gas grille in all likelihood doesn’t quite afford you the natural flavor of charcoal, but it affords several convenience vantages. The gas grille is easily and quickly lite, and the fire remains continuous for an extended time period.

A simple charcoal grill is very easy to use throughout the summer. What better time to cook out with family and friends. Anything from venison steaks to steamed corn to elk roasts can be flamed on one of these classic cookers. The heat and smoke from the charcoal add an amazing flavor to any meat of choice. There are even hickory chips that can be added for an additional enhancement.

The alternatives we confront when purchasing a grille are rather unlike what our parents confronted. Gas, electric, infrared, and movable merely to identify a few of the fundamentals. Personally I’ve utilized a charcoal grille since childhood. The smoking, simplified wonderments are difficult to relinquish. Although a few acquaintances assure me gas is altogether the craze these days, and the coal Is not as good for you as we at one time believed, I however can not desert the taste sensation.

Anyone who has grilled on gas and charcoal can tell you that there’s a difference. When it comes to charcoal, the flavor is phenomenal. A gas grill might be slightly better for a quick grilling job or a long grill project such as a turkey. It usually gets down to a matter of convenience or taste.

When shopping around for a charcoal grill that’s right for you or you and your family, make sure to take into consideration the size and number of people being fed. The charcoal grill will still give you a great flavor, however for speed and convenience the Gas grill is a great option. There are a variety of grills to suit the needs of an enormous family get-together or simply a single man or woman just looking for a change in the mundane daily meals.

Scuba Regulators

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Every diver needs to know the basics of diving and they especially need to know all there is to know about their diving regulator. If you are new to diving, then you will need to learn how to choose the right scuba regulator for your diving needs and if youre a seasoned diver you may want to brush up on what is best where regulators are concerned.

What is a Regulator?

Understanding what a diving regulator is and knowing what it does is very important before you think about buying one. A regulator is actually a pressure regulator which is designed to supply divers with the just the right amount of breathing gases which helps divers breathe underwater. The regulator is supposed to be attached to the cylinder holding the breathing gas in order for the right amount of doses of breathing gas to be given at the right time to the diver.

This needs to lower the air pressure during all the stages of the dive. You may have heard the terms diving regulator and demand valve being used in similar ways but in actual fact the demand valve is the part which is attached to the regulator and is responsible for allowing the gas to go the diver. When purchasing a regulator, it is very easy for you to get to know all the parts and you can always ask for a diagram that will help break it all down for you.

Features

When making your choice in a diving regulator, there are some important features that will want to have in mind. It may not be wise to go with the first one you come across. Piston and Diaphragm regulators are the recommended ones you should look into. Between these two types of regulators, the only difference is that some people who dive in cold waters prefer the diaphragm as it works better for temperatures less than 40 degrees. By using a kit known as an environmental kit, the diaphragm regulator would be much similar to freeze proof.

The part of the scuba regulator which goes into your mouth is another feature that you might want to take a look at. Known as the second stage, it should have an adjustment on it to help you custom fit it to your desire. The swivel will help you lessen the hose line pull that you will have with a regulator, this is another thing you should look into.

The Cost

The final factor in making your choice in diving regulators is the cost. You want to see what your budget will allow you to buy. You do not want to go with a regulator that is too cheaply made but you do not want to spend a small fortune either.

Before making your choice you should do some more research. Going to a place which is up to date on the regulations that needs to be met is very important. You want to get quality product when it comes to your diving equipment. You will want to be as comfortable as possible so you can enjoy the experience more, especially since your scuba equipment will be the only thing keeping you alive while underwater.

Summer Camps That Leave Both The Parents and the Kids Satisfied

Monday, April 13th, 2009

You recognize the benefits of residential summer camps, you care about the experience your child receives and thus you’re researching just a bit more. Whether you’re a 3-kids-a-year-for-3-years summer camp veteran or a first time parent, there are some things you’ve thought about.

One of the first things you noticed and contemplated, there are many camp types to pick. In this sea of camp offerings, many appear to be the same camp rebranded. Of course, you want to choose the right one because they’re not inexpensive. Lastly, you’ve wondered if it’s possible to find a camp the kids will love but will benefit them, you know, a little education or something.

You’re exactly correct in each thought. The volume of camps is overwhelming. They do cost a fair amount of money, there are similar programs and yes you should be able to have your child’s person positively impacted while away.

Most children want to go off to play, to have fun and so, it would be ideal to have them at a camp that addressed your want for a little education and the child be none-the-wiser for being at this type of camp: It can be done.

The most obvious camp for education are camps specific to college prep programs or that offer summer classes, often on a university campus. Often kids will rebuff the idea of these camps because they don’t appear fun and seem like more school. In these cases you need to be more discrete in the program you’re looking at.

Try to locate camps that refer to team building. In their descriptions see what they do that is supposed to build teams. For instance, a rafting camp requires campers to work together to get their raft safely downstream. Hiking a mountain or climbing on ropes will require a team attitude for support and safety.

Look for a camp that references activities that require people to engage one on one and in groups. Buzz words to look for: discussions, community, leadership, evening campfire, interconnectedness, etc. These are camps that have thought enough about the benefits of communication and improving these skills.

Try to locate camps that speak of teaching and learning through experience. Since programs are being pulled from schools at an ever-increasing rate, we’re losing this type educational experience. Camps that focus on this type of learning will help to offset some of the loss.

Let’s look at the whitewater rafting camp again. If the camp is noting experiential education: teamwork is learned in each phase of a rafting trip from preparing the gear, to suiting up, to learning to paddle as a synchronized crew, learning safety techniques, and how to swim in moving water. These skills encompass the physical, the mental and the verbal. All of this while rafting, there are other elements to camp as well.

If you’re exploring residential camps, you probably have the means to send your child. It’s natural and good parenting to want to get the most experience for your dollar spent. Your child’s life will be greatly enriched from their summer experiences.

In summary, yes, camp is meant to be fun and your child should have the time of a lifetime; however, with a little time on the internet, armed with a few insider tips and key words to look for, you can find a camp that is both fun and educational. I do believe, when it comes to summer camps, you can have your cake and eat it too. Best in your summer quest!
