A Fight In Upstate New York Bar

Friday, December 25th, 2009

[I:http://mdiexplorer.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/LJJames8.jpg] It was a quite day in a small Bar in upstate New York . The girl working behind the bar was young, she had just turned Nineteen and had only been bar tending a few weeks, this was her first time working alone. Everything was going fine with only two of the regulars in the back shooting pool it was nothing she could not handle she thought to herself.

Then the front door opened and in walked ten of the biggest men she had ever seen. They talked loudly and as they walked over to the far side of the bar, She got a look at the back of their jackets. She could easily see that the markings on them where all the same. The men ordered pitchers of beer and their talking only got louder as they drank more and talked about things she did not understand. Then the men went quite as the front door opened and in walked seven more large men, at first she thought these seven men where with the first Ten as they looked and dressed similar but as she looked at the markings on the backs of these new comers Jackets she could tell while they where similar the markings where different, By the way the two groups where looking at each other she guessed the difference must mean a lot to them.

The Seven men sat up toward the front of the bar and also ordered pitchers of beer. The young girl did her best to make sure both groups where kept happy, but it was just a matter of time and Beer! When one of the men from the first group called out to her, “Hey Honey don’t worry about those guys, there losers! Come over here and hang with some real men.” That was all it took, the fuse was lit. “Who you calling losers pal we are good enough to beat you any day of the week!” Yelled back a guy from the second group. “You may think your as good as us but you never will be!” Yelled back a man from the first group.

Then in what was a blur to our young barmaid a fight broke out between the two groups it was loud and she could hear glass and wood breaking all around her as the men cursed and screamed at each other. This young Girl was scared and she feared for her life.

Her fear abated a little when in the distance she heard sirens. The police are coming, she thought to herself as she hid behind the bar. The police arrived in force and they stormed in arresting the men and taking them away. When things got quite and all the men where taken away the young girl looked around the small bar. So much damage she thought to herself, She looked at one of the officers and asked how did you know to come here. We got a call that these two groups where both heading to this bar and we just knew, it happens all the time with these type of guys!!!

Epilogue: The next morning when the young barmaid awoke she walked down stairs to the kitchen where her father was reading the morning paper. Does it say anything about the fight in the bar yesterday she asked her father? Yes he said as he pointed to a small article in the back of the paper “Yankees and Mets fans Brawl it out in small town bar” the story went on to explain how all the men where given tickets for disorderly conduct and released. That’s it she screamed at her father these men trash the bar, scare the hell out of me, They should all be in jail and all they get is Tickets!!! Calm down sweetheart her father said as he hugged her, The way your acting one would think it had been a bunch of rowdy Bikers in the bar yesterday! Those Guys would have been locked away, But it was only Sports fans!

Brompton Folding Bike Makes It Far Simpler To Travel

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

The Brompton folding bike is a high quality bike that is nice to ride around the area. Although you might be a bit sceptical about getting a fold up bike once you receive the Brompton you will soon change your mind. The Brompton can be assembled in 30 seconds. It is very easy to fold the bike up once you get used to it.

The good thing about these bikes is that you can tour the area or go on short breaks. Breaks can be split up into sections where you ride the bike a bit and then travel a bit on public transport. That is the joy of owning the Brompton. Travelling around is made much easier. You will be able to travel to friends and family and have some place to put the bike. Rather than leaving the bike in an unknown area you can take it with you.

The wonderful thing about the Brompton bike is that it folds up which means that if you have to commute a lot then it is easier to get on and off transport. It is difficult when you have to carry a heavy bike with you. However when a bike is fold-able it makes it easier to carry. Getting to work has never been easier or simpler.

If you have a long way to travel to work you can take your bike and travel on public transport as well. Sometimes when you take a none fold-able bike with you there might not be enough room to put it and so you have to wait for the next means of transport. This could make you late which does not set a good impression.

Whatever it is, people have realised that the Brompton bike is worth its weight in gold. It was thanks to Andrew Ritchie who manufactured this bike into existence. His unique way of double jointing the fold of the cycle is probably what has made Brompton bikes so popular.

You can take your Brompton bike into work with you because it folds down to a really small size.Once you have had a Brompton bike you will never be pleased with any other bike. Folding and unfolding it will seem so easy. Not only is it a breeze to fold and unfold it is also super light and easy to carry.

Brompton bikes come in all shapes and sizes. There are all kind of prices for the bikes as well. Some Brompton bikes are less than one hundred pounds whilst others are more expensive.

If you’ve enjoyed all the great information you read here about the brompton folding bike, you’ll love everything else you find at brompton folding bike

Del Mar Racetrack: ‘Where The Surf Meets the Turf’

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

Though it is sometimes overshadowed by more famous tracks back East like Churchill downs and Belmont Park, Del Mar Racetrack in Southern California has a rich and fascinating history. Located 20 miles north of San Diego and known for its iconic slogan “Where The Surf Meets the Turf”, Del Mar has not only hosted the best horses and jockeys on the planet but a ‘who’s who’ of show biz elite.

The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club was founded by a group of well heeled enthusiasts in the mid’30s, and they immediately turned their attention to building a world class horse racing venue. The names that were instrumental in the creation of Del Mar include a whos who of American entertainment–most notably Bing Crosby, Oliver Hardy (of Laurel and Hardy) and Jimmy Durante. At the time the facility opened thoroughbred horse racing was the second most popular sport in America behind major league baseball, and Del Mar quickly gained a reputation for being a player in the industry.

Additionally, the star power involved with the project also provided a trendy cachet that the tonier race courses back East lacked. Bing Crosby himself greeted patrons at the gate on opening day, and during the late’30s and early’40s it became a place to be seen for Hollywood A-listers and those who aspired for celebrity. In addition to known gambling enthusiasts like W.C. Fields, Edgar Bergen and Red Skelton, the Del Mar patrons during that time also included some of the top female stars of the era including Ava Gardner, Paulette Goddard and Dorothy Lamour.

Del Mar was the site of the’38 match race between Seabiscuit and Ligaroti. Seabiscut won the $25,000 winner take all challenge by a nose, and this race set Del Mar betting and attendance records and remains one of the most famous races in history. The racing at Del Mar continued to flourish until the start of WWII, when the track went ‘dark’ for racing. It was used at times by the military for, among other things, a training ground for Marines and later a production facility for bomber parts.

After the war Del Mar didn’t miss a beat, and reopened the day after Japan surrendered to Allied Forces in Tokyo Bay. That day drew over 21,000 fans to the park and set a new wagering record of over $950,000. The track flourished during the post war economic boom years, and improved transportation between the major urban centers in Southern California–along with a new crop of stars including Mickey Rooney, Jimmy Durante and Desi Arnez, Jr.–kept the track in the limelight.

The annual race meet at Del Mar remains a highlight of the summer to this day. Del Mar remains one of the top tracks in the country, and have recently upgraded their facility with a state of the art grandstand and was one of the first tracks to install a new synthetic racing surface.

Tai Chi Chuan Instructor has Not had a Lesson in Tai Chi!

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

[I:http://mdiexplorer.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/AlCase18.jpg]This is going to be, for some, an upsetting article on tai chi chuan. I’ve never taken instruction in the art of Tai Chi Chuan, you see, but my tai chi is the best. I don’t mean to be self serving, but let us see if you can find fault with me after you have read how I came up with my tai chi.

I began my study of tai chi with a book, Lee Ying Arng Modified Tai Chi for Health. I spent hours a night memorizing the form, trying to figure out the applications, trying to figure out what it all meant. And, it didn’t mean much.

So I found books by Chen Man Ching, and I went over the tai chi of Chen and Yang and Wu and Sun, but they all spoke this gobbledegook that didn’t make sense. Then, a stroke smarts and frustration, I began doing my Karate, I had near ten years experience in Kang Duk Won karate, and this tai chi thing started to resolve. I was using good, old karate power to feed the form, and it worked, and then I was able to translate karate power into Tai Chi power.

More important, I was neglecting all the bushwah philosophy and mysticism in the books and using physics. The martial arts, you see, are taught through the memorization of random strings of data. In physics you look for a reason, and a logic, and you define a concept.

Now, ancient stories claim tai chi was created in a dream by san feng after he watched a fight between a crane and a snake. Or, it was created by an old, retired general in a village who wanted to make up games for the children. Neither of these concepts can be proven, but we can’t just discount them out of hand.

Maybe the general in Chen village was old, couldn’t do the martial arts the way they should be done, careful not to hurt himself, and actually came up with something. And the vision of the snake and the crane, though I espouse physics I would not disclaim the value of visions, which are the dreams and inspiration of the human race. Still, whether rehabilitation of the aged and injured, or big dreams, tai chi does not make sense without the application of physics.

So this is what I want you to do, I want you to get a book on physics. Make it a simple kids book, simple pictures for illustrations, that sort of thing. It would really help if it was aimed at describing a motor.

Now, read that book, and start asking yourself what terms are the same as in tai chi. Rooting is grounding, where is the generator, and so on. Do that, and when the face and guts of your tai chi chuan start to alter, do not come whining to me.

Al Case has studied martial arts 4O years. He began Tai Chi Chuan in 1974, became a writer for the mags in 1981, and originated Matrixing Technolgy, which is the study of physics in the martial arts. You can get a free ebook on Matrixing at Monster Martial Arts.

What You Need to Know? Common Dog Ailments

Friday, December 18th, 2009

People love their dogs like family (and some people love their dogs more than family), so it’s not surprising that they love spoiling their furry friends with the latest dog fashions. With top international designers and fashion school students alike trying their hand at designing for the four-legged market, there has never been more style and selection for the haute dog. In years past, dog clothing was typically frou-frou, cutesy, and costume-like, but the pendulum is now swinging the other way. Dog fashion today has become more casual, comfortable, and contemporary, as the following trends show.

A good house will be determined by the size of your dog. Having a large dog house might seem great, but it is not really recommended. why? Well, in cold weather much of the dogs body heat will be lost. If body heat is lost, your dog will be cold. A better solution will be having a small dog house. Just make sure your dog has enough room to turn around comfortably, lay down and stretch.

Denim. Just as denim is in every person’s closet, it has also become a fashion essential for canines. Because denim is so durable and comfortable, it is one of the most popular fabrics for pets. In shades from cream to deep indigo, denim shows its versatility this season in casual mode as a pair of doggie dungarees, or dressed up as a jean jacket lined with fleece or faux fur.

Building a dog house can be a fun project, and can usually be completed during one weekend. Once you find the dog house plans you want you can review, study them and figure out what you will need. Once you have all your material, you can cut all your parts, and put it together, simple right? It actually is pretty simple if you have plans and instructions to follow.

So, now we understand that glucosamine in both liquid and pill form are very effective ways to treat joint pain and the symptoms of arthritis in dogs. Just keep in mind that like most natural supplements, it can take up to 4 weeks to see the full benefits.

Scarves and ties. These accessories are popular in pet boutiques because they’re more affordable than an entire outfit. Dogs who don’t like to wear clothes are more amenable to wearing something around their necks. And like other dog fashions, these scarves and ties look just like what people would wear. The scarves range from lambswool scarves to faux mink stoles; and the latest neckties don’t just clip on - they’re incorporated with a collar so look they hand-tied.
